The Pearson BTEC International Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business is a level 3 course that is equivalent to a foundation programme in the UK. It is designed to prepare students for university entry or a career in the world of business. 

It is a 14-16 months long full-time course for learners who want to progress to employment in a range of business roles. Progress could be either directly to employment in Level 3 roles, or via higher education business courses.

Course Description 

The Pearson BTEC International Extended Diploma in Business is a level 3 course that provides learners with a profound understanding of the concepts and practices necessary to progress in the business sector. The BTEC Internationals are regarded as some of the most robust progression pathways towards Higher Education - providing learners with a competitive advantage when it comes to effective progression in further studies and employment. As such, the course is ideal for individuals with a professional goal of pursuing a career in a specific specialist field of business, as it enables them to equip themselves with the need and competence required by the modern-day business environment.

On completing this course, students can progress to an HND or other professional degree programme. Alternatively, they will have acquired the skills and knowledge necessary to enter straight into the world of work.

Course Requirements

In order to enrol on this course, applicants must have one of the following:

• ● A minimum of 4 GCSE’s, including Maths, English and a related subject.
• ● Grade 10 or equivalent in any curriculum with a minimum of 55%.
• ● BTEC Level 2 in any field.
• ● Relevant work experience (for working professionals).

Modules & Assignments

This course is made up of a total of 15 units. Each one is assessed through a variety of methods, including presentations, debates, discussions, research on case studies, and practical tasks.

Mandatory units

There are six mandatory units, three internal units and three-set assignment units.

Learners must complete and achieve a Pass or above in all mandatory units.

Optional units

More than 30 optional skill-based units are available to the learners which must complete at least nine units totalling at least 560 GLH.

As well as helping students who wish to embark on, or advance in, a career involving Business Management, this course is also suited to students who wish to progress to the university level.

On completion of this course, successful students will have the credits they need to apply for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree at a range of top universities across the globe or can complete the Pearson BTEC HND in Business.
